At a special event organized last night by Phillips, Roger Federer and Leonardo DiCaprio witnessed how four Rolex Daytona, unique pieces, were sold for a record amount. It is the largest auctioned lot ever at a charity auction. As expected, the handler of the hammer was the legendary Aurel Bacs auctioneer; we talked to him to tell us what happened.
Rolex One-Offs: From 4 Million to Over 40 Million Swiss Francs
There had been plenty of speculation beforehand. On Monday evening in London, four unique Rolex Daytonas were auctioned for charity. In the end, they fetched 41.1 million Swiss francs, with proceeds benefiting causes including the Roger Federer Foundation.
