  • On Tuesday, June 2, 2026, Vernon Search and Rescue rescued an injured mountain biker in the back country southeast of Vernon after he flipped over his handlebars into a forested area.
  • Emergency services received the call at around 6 p.m. Tuesday after the injured biker, unable to extricate himself, managed to dial 911 because he was in range of cell service.

  • Search manager Coralie Nairn used the event to remind outdoor enthusiasts to remember the Three Ts: Take The Essentials, do a Trip Plan, and get the Training for your activity.
