2027: Ogun PDP Blames APC For Omission Of Adebutu's Name On INEC List
INEC said 13 parties made the final ballot list, but the PDP ticket was absent amid questions over Ladi Adebutu’s eligibility.
- On Sunday, The Independent National Electoral Commission released its final list for the February 6, 2027, Ogun State governorship election, omitting Peoples Democratic Party candidate Ladi Adebutu and his running mate.
- The development follows allegations by civil society groups, including the Ogun Democratic Accountability Forum and Elections Integrity Watch, that Adebutu's name was absent from the PDP membership register submitted to the commission.
- According to the commission's final list, which includes candidates from 13 political parties, the exclusion leaves the PDP governorship ticket absent from the contest, raising questions about the party's participation.
- INEC has not publicly explained the omission of Adebutu and his running mate, though the list signed by INEC Secretary Rose Oriaran-Anthony confirmed candidates for the African Democratic Congress and All Progressives Congress .
- Under Section 32 of The Electoral Act, a registered political party discovering a missing candidate name must notify INEC in writing within 14 days of publication, supported by an affidavit.
