- Engineered with Dallara, the IR-28 features 2.4-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engines from Chevrolet and Honda delivering up to 760 horsepower, weighing approximately 100 pounds less than current models.
- The vehicle integrates a new battery-based Energy Storage System from UK-based Helix and BOLD Technology, delivering approximately 14 times the energy storage capacity of previous systems.
- IndyCar President J. Douglas Boles stated the IR-28 is the "ideal package to move IndyCar forward," while four-time NTT IndyCar Series Champion Alex Palou noted the design feels like a "proper next step."
- With initial testing beginning this week, the IR-28 will make its competition debut at the start of the 2028 NTT IndyCar Series championship, though work remains before the 2028 season.
