Industrial production drops by 1.5%
The volume of industrial production lagged behind the one year earlier level by 1.5% in February 2026. The working day adjusted index is equal to the non-adjusted one. A production decrease occurred in the majority of the manufacturing subsections. According to seasonally and working-day adjusted data industrial output was 1.8% lower than in January 2026.
Production in the 21 states of monetary union increased in February compared to the previous month. However, the situation is changing as a result of the Iran war.
Industrial production rose by 0.4 percent month-on-month in the euro area and the EU in February. It fell by 0.6 percent year-on-year in the euro area and by 0.1 percent in the EU, the European statistics office Eurostat announced today.
Production is likely to decrease in the coming months due to rising energy prices.
The decline of 1.8% of industrial production was determined by the decreases in the processing industry (less 2.8%) and the extractive industry (less 3.5%).
