IIP Growth Comes in at 8% in August Compared with 7.4% in July
- India's industrial output grew 8% in August, according to official data released on September 28, up from 7.4% in July.
- The government released a revamped index on June 1, updating the base year to 2022-23 and expanding tracking to 1,042 products across 463 item groups.
- Manufacturing output grew 9.0% year-on-year in August, while Electricity & Gas Supply rose 12.3%; Mining activity fell 5.6% in the same month.
- Use-Based Classification data shows Capital Goods output rose 16.9%, Intermediate Goods increased 13.7%, consumer durables grew 11.1%, and consumer non-durables rose 2.1% year-on-year.
- Industrial output between April-August grew 6.7%, representing acceleration from 4.2% growth recorded during the same period a year earlier.
