- Floodwaters from the Whitewater River caused severe damage to homes and businesses in Metamora and Laurel, a community ten miles north that also got swamped last week. For 82-year-old Dean Peercy, the destruction is unlike anything experienced in 83 years.
- The Indiana Fever, Indiana Pacers, Noblesville Boom, and Indianapolis Colts donated $250,000 to the American Red Cross, while The Indianapolis Foundation launched the Indianapolis Flood Relief Fund to direct resources to Marion County.
- At the Metamora grist mill, volunteers are distributing supplies to residents; site interpreter Tara Ball noted the community's spirit, while resident Heather Wessel expressed determination to help the town rebuild.
- Residents hope the popular tourist railroad will resume operations and encourage visitors to return for Canal Days in early October as the town focuses on long-term recovery efforts.
