Indian-origin man among 25 persons facing revocation of US citizenship

The complaints accuse the individuals of fraud and other disqualifying conduct, and the filings raise the department's denaturalisation tally to 123 since Jan. 20, 2025.

  • On Monday, the U.S. Department of Justice filed complaints against 25 naturalized citizens from 17 countries for allegedly securing citizenship through fraud, concealment, and other unlawful conduct. Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche stated the individuals allegedly concealed violent crimes, sexual offenses against children, and fraudulent identities.
  • The Trump administration has aggressively expanded denaturalization efforts since January 20, 2025, seeking to strip citizenship from individuals obtained unlawfully. These latest filings bring the total denaturalization cases to 123, marking a significant escalation in enforcement.
  • Among the cases, prosecutors filed a complaint against 65-year-old Narinder Singh in the District of Delaware for allegedly using fraudulent identities beginning in 1996. Singh was naturalized as a U.S. citizen on May 1, 2008, the complaint alleges.
  • "Today's filings represent the largest coordinated denaturalisation effort in Department history, but they are only the beginning," Blanche added. The Justice Department will continue using every available tool to protect the naturalization process integrity.
  • The 25 individuals are natives of 17 countries including India, Pakistan, and Mexico, facing allegations spanning passport fraud to attempted murder. Defendants retain constitutional rights to due process and federal court hearings before citizenship revocation occurs.
