India’s Industrial Production Grows 5.2% in February
Manufacturing output rose 6% in February with basic metals, motor vehicles, and machinery driving growth, while industrial production grew 5.2%, National Statistics Office reported.
- India's Industrial Production grew 5.2% in February, according to official data released on Monday, driven primarily by improvement in the Manufacture sector.
- The Manufacture sector's output growth accelerated to 6% in February 2026, compared to 2.8% in the year-ago month, as measured by the Index of Industrial Production .
- Capital goods grew 12.5% while Infrastructure and Construction Goods expanded 11.2%; Manufacture of basic metals, including 'Flat products of Alloy Steel' and 'Pipes and tubes of Steel', contributed significantly.
- Mining production growth improved to 3.1% from 1.6% a year ago, while Power generation growth stood at 2.3% in February, reflecting mixed performance across sectors.
- The NSO revised January 2026 Industrial Production growth to 5.1% from 4.8%, while during April-February FY26, the country's overall Industrial Production growth remained flat at 4.1%.
