The Western sanctions on Russia in 2022 changed the global oil trade landscape. Since then, India has been buying Russian oil at relatively low prices. As a result, it has been possible to control the cost of raw materials for the country's oil refineries. The supply has also remained uninterrupted.
Despite Western sanctions, India continues to buy oil from Russia for its energy security, the Russian ambassador has made it clear. This is not to fund a war, but to meet national needs. Russia is India's largest oil supplier due to the concessional price, and India's independent foreign policy has been praised.
