India honours Op Sindoor heroes with gallantry awards
President Murmu approved 127 gallantry awards including 9 Vir Chakras for bravery in Operation Sindoor, which targeted terrorist and military infrastructure in Pakistan, killing over 100 terrorists.
- On Thursday, President Droupadi Murmu approved 127 Gallantry and 40 Distinguished Service awards for those involved in Operation Sindoor.
- India launched Operation Sindoor to respond to the April 22, 2025, terror attack, with senior officers recognized for their role in the operation.
- The awards list includes four Kirti Chakras, 15 Vir Chakras, 16 Shaurya Chakras, two Bar to Sena Medals, 58 Sena Medals, six Nao Sena Medals and 26 Vayu Sena Medals, with 290 Mention-in-Despatches for Indian armed forces personnel.
- Senior military brass including Vice Admiral S.J. Singh received the Sarvottam Yudh Seva Medal, Vice Admiral Tarun Sobti the Uttam Yudh Seva Medal, and Vice Admiral A.N. Pramod the Yudh Seva Medal, officials said.
- Operation Sindoor reaffirmed India's regional dominance and sent a strong deterrence message after strikes eliminated over 100 terrorists and degraded nine camps deep inside Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
