Russia has gained access to Togo's ports thanks to an agreement signed on November 19th, strengthening its position in Africa, according to the French daily Le Monde. The agreement will allow Togo to use Russian ports, and the embassies of both countries will reopen. The agreement is consistent with Russia's strategy of rapprochement with Africa while simultaneously downgrading Togo's relations with France and the United States.
