Georgian citizens living abroad will be able to vote in national elections only on the country's territory.The corresponding amendments to the electoral code were definitively approved by the Georgian Parliament at its meeting on Wednesday, 17 December, and the Georgian online publication SOVA.
The Parliament of Georgia, in its third, final reading, approved amendments to the Electoral Code, which deprive Georgian citizens living abroad of the opportunity to vote in parliamentary elections outside the country, as reported by NewsGeorgia. It will now be possible to take part in the elections only by personally arriving in Georgia. Votes will be available at the place of registration. The same rules apply to referendums and plebiscites.
