Dozens of Kids and Adults in Gaza Have Starved to Death in July as Hunger Surges
GAZA STRIP, PALESTINE, JUL 23 – The collapse of the EU-Israel aid deal follows attacks on UN facilities and worsening conditions, with over a dozen hunger deaths reported in Gaza in 24 hours, local health officials said.
- In Gaza, the humanitarian deal collapsed, UN said, as ongoing hostilities destroyed aid infrastructure and UN depots overnight from July 20 to 21.
- On July 10, Kaja Kallas announced that the EU reached an aid deal with Israel, requiring 27 EU states to refrain from sanctions, but the agreement has now collapsed.
- In Deir al-Balah, UN facilities were struck despite shared coordinates, and OCHA reported damage to aid infrastructure and staff housing.
- According to the WHO, around 95% of hospitals in Gaza are damaged or destroyed, and Gaza’s Ministry of Health said 1,060 Palestinians have died trying to access food supplies, worsening the humanitarian crisis.
- The United Nations called it `the collapse of last lifelines keeping people alive`, and aid groups issued an urgent call for cooperation.
