India government has released 33 FAQs for Census 2027, clarifying that live-in couples may be treated as married if in a stable union. Here’s what the new digital Census process will include.
‘Stable’ live-in couples to be considered married in Census 2027
The 2027 Census will be conducted in two phases. Phase 1 will include house listingand housing census where house to house field work in 30 days will begin between April and September 2026 as decided by the respective state or UT government.
