A stretch of Maine coastline that was once part of a wealthy family’s private summer estate is now open to visitors as part of Acadia National Park. The land was donated in 1949 by Eleanor Morgan Satterlee in memory of her mother, Louisa, after the family property was badly damaged in the 1947 fire.
