Paleteria La Providencia Recalls Popsicles over Listeria Concerns
SMYRNA, GEORGIA, JUL 17 – Paleteria La Providencia recalled over 110,000 ice cream products potentially contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, posing serious risks to high-risk groups, officials said.
- On June 27, 2025, Florida-based Rich Ice Cream Co. issued a voluntary recall of multiple ice cream products after routine testing revealed Listeria species contamination.
- The recall covers cases shipped to 23 states including California, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Georgia, highlighting the incident’s broad geographic spread.
- Consumers should avoid the affected products, FDA says high-risk groups include pregnant women and adults over 65, and symptoms may take up to 70 days to appear.
- Incomplete distribution records are hindering tracking of the recalled products, prompting the Georgia Department of Agriculture Food Safety division to work with the firm, and no illnesses have been reported to date.
- Anyone who developed symptoms after eating the recalled products should seek medical treatment and notify their doctors, and consumers are urged to contact the Georgia Department of Public Health at 1-866-PUB-HLTH.
