- On Tuesday, the Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad remanded Irfankhan Kalekhan Pathan and Murshid Zahid Akhtar Sheikh to 11-day ATS custody following their arrests for allegedly conspiring to wage war against India.
- Pathan and Sheikh allegedly planned to establish "Ghazwa-e-Hind" by targeting leaders linked to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and imposing Sharia law across India through radicalization.
- Both men allegedly used WhatsApp and Instagram to coordinate with radical groups, while planning to smuggle weapons from Pakistan and Afghanistan and provide training in manufacturing RDX explosives.
- Officials registered an FIR under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections 61 and 148, citing criminal conspiracy and waging war, as the ATS continues investigating other individuals involved in the network.
- The ATS monitors anti-national activity online through human intelligence and technical surveillance; at least one accused allegedly had links with terror group ISIS, officials said.
