Immigration expert warns Chinese illegal aliens using Canadian city as gateway to US
- In fiscal year 2025, U.S. Customs and Border Protection reported 4,042 Chinese nationals caught crossing the northern U.S. Border, mainly via Canada.
- This flow has increased partly because southern border crossings have nearly stopped and Chinese migrants enter Canada using student and tourist visas near the U.S. Border.
- Mark Krikorian, who leads the Center for Immigration Studies, suggested that established Chinese communities in western Canada may be supporting this migration, potentially with assistance from allies linked to the Chinese Communist Party.
- Krikorian stated, "China would not give up on using preexisting smuggling routes" and that the CCP is "patient and calculated" in exploiting border vulnerabilities.
- He warned that such cross-border migration may continue or increase under relaxed U.S. Border policies, with Canada serving as a key transit point into the United States.
