Fewer than 1,000 Scottish Homes Still without Power After Storm Floris
SCOTLAND, AUG 6 – Nearly all of the 71,000 properties affected by Storm Floris have power restored, with 1,600 homes still offline as engineers work to complete repairs by Thursday.
- Storm Floris swept across Scotland on Monday, leaving tens of thousands without power and disrupting transport infrastructure.
- An amber weather warning was issued for much of Monday across central and northern regions of Scotland, while yellow warnings covered other parts of the country.
- Engineers and teams from utility companies and Network Rail dedicated extensive efforts over the last two days to repair overhead lines, remove debris, and restore electricity to affected areas.
- By 9:30pm on Wednesday, SSEN reported around 950 homes, mostly in the Highlands, remained without power after reconnecting 98.6% of customers.
- The storm prompted a major mobilisation across sectors, and while transport services neared normal operation, restoration efforts to reconnect remaining customers continue.
