Seguro rejects law banning ideological flags on Portugal public buildings
The President of the Republic returned to parliament, without promulgation, the decree on rules for the use of flags on public buildings that had been approved in April with the votes of the PSD, Chega and CDS-PP.
The centrists disagree with the decision of the President of the Republic to return to Parliament the diploma regulating the use of flags in public buildings. The CDS argues that symbols displayed in State spaces must promote national unity and admits to re-approving the text in order to overcome the political veto.
Portugal's president vetoed a bill that aimed to ban the hanging of flags “ideological, party or one that represents certain associations” on buildings used by public institutions and local authorities.
