Illinois Venezuelans face economic 'double whammy'
Inflation is a double whammy for Illinois Venezuelans, impacting their community's economic stability, according to a leader from the Illinois Venezuelan Alliance.
Jose Morales, vice president of the Illinois Venezuelan Alliance board, said travel to Venezuela has become easier since the U.S. removed former President Nicolas Maduro in January.
Many Venezuelans are not planning to return due to over 300% inflation, lack of jobs, and absent services in Venezuela.
Illinois Venezuelans often work two or three jobs to support themselves and their families back in Venezuela amid ongoing economic challenges.
