Butter Cow Sculpture to Be Unveiled for 2025 Illinois State Fair
SANGAMON COUNTY, ILLINOIS, AUG 6 – The 104th butter sculpture, made of 800 pounds of unsalted butter, features an adventurer companion and celebrates the fair's 'Adventure Awaits' theme, officials said.
- At the Dairy Building in Springfield, Gov. JB Pritzker and First Lady MK Pritzker unveiled the 2025 butter cow on Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2025.
- This year’s butter cow marks the 104th iteration and features an adventurer companion seeking hidden treasure, reflecting the 'Adventure Awaits' theme.
- The sculpture uses 800 pounds of unsalted butter on a wire frame, recycled annually, by Sarah Pratt of West Des Moines, Iowa.
- Throughout the fair, visitors can view the butter cow in the Dairy Building, which remains on display through Aug. 17, from 7 a.m. to midnight.
- The American Business Club of Springfield, celebrating 70 years, serves as grand marshal and has generated over $6 million for local organizations, while the 2025 lineup includes Jake Owen and others.
