Infleqtion Plans $50M Quantum Computer at Illinois Quantum Microelectronics Park on South Side
COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS, JUL 23 – Infleqtion will invest $14 million and create at least 50 jobs to build Illinois' first utility-scale quantum computer at the Illinois Quantum and Microelectronics Park.
- On Wednesday, Gov. J.B. Pritzker will announce a new tenant at the Illinois Quantum and Microelectronics Park at the former U.S. Steel South Works site; Infleqtion will join the park to build Illinois’s first utility-scale quantum computer, Gov. J.B. Pritzker announced.
- The state’s 2025 budget allocated $500 million for quantum research, including $300 million toward the South Works campus, and Infleqtion will invest $14 million and receive over $5 million in tax credits under the Manufacturing Illinois Chips for Real Opportunity Program.
- Infleqtion agreed to create at least 50 new engineering and research jobs, the site is projected to generate a $20 billion economic impact over the next decade, and its quantum computer measures roughly the size of a dinner table.
- Gov. J.B. Pritzker acknowledged concerns from the Alliance of the Southeast, and Zoe Leigh said `these companies are receiving tens of millions in tax incentives, yet we see no measurable reinvestment into the local Black community.`
- The Citizens Utility Board reports PJM’s capacity cost is about 22% higher than last year’s rate in ComEd territory.
