- The 2018 federal farm bill reopened the market, spawning new hemp offerings, shortly after hemp was removed from the country's banned list.
- Amid a planned federal farm bill review, stakeholders noted regulatory uncertainty, including debates over hemp sales age restrictions and products taxed up to more than 40%.
- Stakeholders say the goal is to protect farmers while expanding business opportunities, aiming for balanced industry growth and stakeholder interests.
- Following the Chicago forum, the next discussion is set for Rockford, with a date yet to be determined.
