Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker blasts Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and Trump over GOP redistricting efforts
TEXAS, AUG 10 – Illinois Governor JB Pritzker called Texas GOP's redistricting an attempt to cheat and warned it could add five safe Republican seats, while Texas Democrats fled to block the vote.
- On Sunday, Gov. J.B. Pritzker told NBC News' Meet the Press that President Donald Trump and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott are attempting to cheat in 2026 by redistricting, calling Abbott a 'joke' and Trump a 'cheater'.
- Against that backdrop, Texas State House Democrats fled to Illinois to block the redistricting vote after Republicans fell short of the 100 members needed for a quorum.
- Citing legal concerns, Gov. J.B. Pritzker said the plan violates the Voting Rights Act and the Constitution.
