Ukraine Says Using AI Robot Guns to Shoot Down New Russian Drones

  • Ukraine’s air force has begun using artificial-intelligence-enabled robotic guns to shoot down newer, fast-moving Russian jet-powered drones.
  • Air force spokesperson Col. Yuri Ignat said robotic turrets installed on bridges have downed drones, including the larger Geran-5 model.
  • The turrets use optical vision and artificial intelligence to control machine guns and reduce the need for human action.
  • Sergiy Beskrestnov said 12 turrets had been installed in Kyiv, while Ignat said they operate within about one kilometer and are only part of Ukraine’s wider air-defense system.
