Mahershala Ali "Moved On" From Marvel's Blade Reboot
- Mahershala Ali confirmed he has moved on from the Blade project, stating the film is fully dead. "We're not doing the movie" is the definitive answer regarding the vampire-hunting film's fate, Ali said.
- Aiming to "only accept insanely great" work rather than a standard vampire story, Marvel Studios struggled to define the project. The two-time Oscar winner never appeared in live-action despite the studio hiring directors Bassam Tariq and Yann Demange.
- Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios chief, recently said he felt "like a gigantic loser and a failure that we didn't get off the ground with Mahershala." Ali noted he used training skills from Blade on other projects, finding creative redemption.
- Because the Blade project fell apart, Ali and director Tariq teamed up to make the action film Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother. "I couldn't have done both," Ali told GQ, as the failed project provided necessary time and focus.
