The Enforcement Directorate urged the Supreme Court to decide CBI's power to investigate a sitting chief minister. This plea arose from an alleged obstruction during a search of a political consultancy firm. The court heard arguments regarding the transfer of investigation to the CBI. The Solicitor General requested a decision on this larger legal issue. The matter has been posted for further hearing on September 2.
