Idaho Woman Charged in Connection with Stolen Ambulance that Was Driven Into Building Housing DHS
Sarah Elizabeth George faces federal charges including attempted destruction of federal property by fire after stealing an ambulance and crashing it into a DHS-leased building.
- On Feb. 18, Sarah Elizabeth George, 43, of Boise, allegedly stole a Canyon County Paramedics ambulance from outside St. Luke's Meridian and drove it into the Portico North building in Meridian.
- Following a five-day probe, investigators identified the suspect through canvassing, surveillance, and vehicle tracking, then executed arrest and search warrants at George's Boise residence on Monday.
- Video and store records link gasoline cans and lighter fluid to the suspect, with Walmart and Fred Meyer surveillance and receipts showing purchases of two gasoline jugs and bags stashed in bushes.
- Federal filings show the defendant faces statutes carrying five to 20 years, and Sarah Elizabeth George was scheduled for arraignment Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Boise and has not entered a plea.
- The incident triggered support from federal agencies including the FBI and ATF, as the stolen ambulance removal prompted a multiagency response involving the General Services Administration lease for DHS and ICE office space.
