- On Wednesday, the Federal High Court, Kaduna, granted former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai permission to access dental and eye care in Abuja under strict ICPC supervision, with Honourable Justice Rilwan Aikawa ordering immediate return to custody after treatment.
- Defence lawyer Oluwole Olaniyan SAN argued for a variation of bail conditions previously imposed on El-Rufai during the ongoing corruption trial. The ICPC opposed this fresh application, filing a counter-affidavit to challenge the request.
- El-Rufai and co-defendant Joel Adoga face a 10-count charge before Judge Rilwan Aikawa for alleged money laundering and corruption under the Money Laundering Act, 2022. Both defendants have pleaded not guilty.
- Separately, the State Security Service arraigned El-Rufai in Abuja on five amended counts of alleged national security breaches stemming from claims he intercepted a phone conversation involving National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu.
- Following arguments from both legal teams on Wednesday, the court adjourned the matter until today, Thursday, May 7, 2026, for ruling on the bail variation application. El-Rufai remains in custody pending the decision.
