Agents Walk Away Unharmed After Arsonist Attacks Yakima ICE Field Office
YAKIMA COUNTY, WASHINGTON, AUG 6 – Authorities are investigating a suspected arson at the ICE field office amid an 830% rise in assaults on ICE personnel reported by the Department of Homeland Security.
- On Saturday, August 2, 2025, someone shattered a window at the building located at 3701 River Road in Yakima that contains an ICE sub-office, followed shortly afterward by a small fire behind the structure.
- At approximately 12:32 p.m., a fire ignited in a vacant lot near the ICE field office; authorities suspect the blaze was started by a spark related to an earlier rock-throwing incident and are treating it as a possible arson.
- Firefighters responded within four minutes of the call, discovering flames affecting a privacy screen on a fence as well as an adjacent homeless encampment, and managed to completely extinguish the fire by 1 p.m., with no harm to the building or injuries to the three federal agents inside.
- Representative Dan Newhouse denounced the vandalism, stating that such actions are unacceptable within the realms of politics or law enforcement. Meanwhile, officials report that there is no evidence linking the fire to political motives, and no arrests have been made to date.
