Hyundai Motor and Kia have overtaken U.S. competitor Ford to claim third place in monthly sales in the U.S. automotive market, driven by increased sales of hybrid vehicles. With the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recently confirming plans to lower fuel efficiency standards for automakers, the burden of technology costs for Hyundai and Kia is also expected to decrease.
