Hyderabad Police Arrest Seven Persons in Advocate’s Murder Case

Police said the killing was planned for Rs 15 lakh and followed months of surveillance near the advocate’s home, with cash and vehicles seized.

  • Hyderabad Police arrested seven people, including main conspirators Mujahid Alam Khan and Mahboob Alam Khan, for the contract killing of Advocate Khaja Moizuddin. The 63-year-old senior lawyer was fatally struck by an SUV outside his Masab Tank residence on Saturday, May 23.
  • The murder stemmed from a long-standing dispute over Waqf properties in Malakpet and Lakdikapul. Mujahid and Mahboob allegedly orchestrated the attack after suffering continuous legal setbacks due to the lawyer's active involvement in proceedings against them.
  • Conspirators allegedly hired contract killers for Rs 15 lakh to execute the plan. According to Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar, the group conducted surveillance near the victim's residence since January to identify the most suitable time and place for the attack.
  • Accused Abhijeeth alias Nani allegedly drove the SUV and rammed into the victim, throwing him nearly 10 metres away. Police seized the vehicle and cash from suspects after tracking them based on technical evidence during Friday's arrests.
  • Further investigation remains underway to collect additional evidence related to the conspiracy. The police operation successfully traced key suspect Kishan to Panipat, Haryana, before bringing him to Hyderabad to face charges for the systematic murder plot.
