Husband killed wife after tracking her to refuge, court told

  • Habibur Masum, 26, stabbed his wife Kulsuma Akter, 27, on April 6 last year in Bradford city centre while she was pushing their seven-month-old son in a pram.
  • Ms Akter had relocated to a refuge in Bradford to escape Masum's violent, jealous, and controlling behavior, and at the time, Masum was legally required by bail terms to maintain distance from her.
  • Masum tracked Ms Akter to Bradford, deceived her by pretending to be from a GP’s surgery with fake appointments, then confronted and attacked her with a knife outside a shop.
  • CCTV showed Masum spinning Ms Akter and the pram, stabbing her multiple times, including a neck wound severing her jugular vein, causing fatal blood loss.
  • Masum pleaded guilty to manslaughter and knife possession but denies murder; the attack was described by prosecutors as "cold-blooded, calculated, premeditated murder.
