Mountain lion bites 4-year-old on popular Olympic National Park trail, injuring child
OLYMPIC NATIONAL PARK, WASHINGTON, JUL 21 – The collared mountain lion was tracked and euthanized after attacking the child, who was airlifted to a trauma center and has since been released, officials said.

- Around 3:15 p.m., a four-year-old was bitten by a mountain lion wearing a tracking collar while accompanying their family on a well-known trail near Victoria Overlook at Hurricane Ridge.
- Rangers initiated the search for the mountain lion right after the incident, and a canine team joined the effort by early evening, soon finding the cougar.
- Officials airlifted the injured child to a top-tier trauma hospital in Seattle, where they are currently receiving medical care; the mountain lion was dispatched on the morning of Monday, July 21.
