Central Bank Governor Mihály Varga said that the MNB continues to pursue a cautious, stability-oriented monetary policy.
The MNB has not touched the 6.5 percent interest rate since September 2024.
The forint rallied on Tuesday. A few days ago, it was almost 390 forints for one euro, but today the exchange rate has fallen to a level not seen in a long time. In the afternoon, a euro cost just over 379 forints, while a dollar was already cheaper than 318 forints.
The last time this happened was in January 2024.
