Humanoid Robots Hit the Catwalk at Seoul Fashion Show
Designers said the robot outfits will be sold under the MACH 33 brand as Morgan Stanley predicts more than 1 billion humanoids by 2050.
On Friday in Seoul, Galaxy Corporation, an entertainment company, hosted a fashion show where human models and humanoid robots walked the catwalk together in matching outfits to explore human-robot coexistence.
CEO Choi Yong-ho explained the initiative, stating, "We realised that robots, too, need to wear clothes." He added, "Just as every human being is unique, we believe that every single robot should also be distinct."
Models wore designs including tasselled Texan-style ensembles with cowboy hats and silver puffer jackets fitted to Unitree humanoid frames, along with space-age trousers resembling those worn by rock star David Bowie.
The company plans to launch the clothing line under the brand name "MACH 33" by year-end, though most current robots remain pre-programmed or remotely operated rather than fully autonomous.
Financial services firm Morgan Stanley predicts the world could host more than 1 billion humanoids by 2050, suggesting the potential scale of the emerging robot fashion industry.
A fashion show took place in Seoul, South Korea, on Thursday, May 28th, and its concept stood out among similar events. In addition to human models, humanoid robots were also presented, their outfits perfectly matching those of humans.
