Humanoid robot sales tally hit 7,000 globally last year
Many were bought by research institutions and companies to generate data for improving artificial intelligence models, the federation said.

- Humanoid sales remain "a fraction" of the overall robot population, Susanne Bieller, secretary general of Frankfurt-based IFR, told Reuters. Around 542,000 regular industrial robots were installed in 2024 for comparison.
- Carmakers, key early adopters, are running pilots with "single-digit or sometimes double-digit numbers of robots in their plants," Bieller said. China showcased humanoid capabilities at its robot games last month.
- Bank of America Global Research estimates 90,000 humanoid robots will be shipped this year, with projections reaching 1.2 million by 2030. These figures contrast sharply with current sales volumes.
