Hulu App to Shut Down as Disney+ Becomes Unified Streaming Home
UNITED STATES, AUG 6 – Disney will launch a single app combining Hulu and Disney+ with entertainment, news, and sports, reaching 183 million subscribers as of Q2, CEO Bob Iger said.
- In June 2025, Disney completed its $9 billion purchase of Comcast’s remaining Hulu shares, becoming the sole owner of the streaming platform.
- Following Disney's complete acquisition of Hulu, the company revealed plans to discontinue Hulu's separate app and incorporate its content directly into the Disney+ platform by 2026.
- The integration will deliver a unified streaming app with top franchises, general entertainment, news, family programming, and live sports content globally.

Hulu will become a content hub inside of Disney+.
