The private electric car market in Germany is growing again strongly after the slump in 2024. Buyers are mostly young and male, women and older people are still reluctant to change.
The new registrations for e-cars are rising again. Many of these vehicles are service cars. Whether the switch to e-mobility succeeds, however, is decided in the private car market. There is a turnaround here – which obviously also depends on the disappearance of a prejudice in the e-car.
After a period of hesitancy, private drivers are increasingly opting for electric cars again. According to the HUK E-Barometer, in the second quarter of 2025, around a third more people switched from a combustion engine to a fully electric car than in the previous quarter.
