Global Rights Group Urges Cambodia to Open Civic Space Ahead of 2027 Commune Election
CIVICUS, a global alliance of civil society organizations and activists, urged the 63rd Session of the UN Human Rights Council, member states and the UN Special Rapporteur to push the Cambodian government to drop all charges against activists and political opponents. It also called for the repeal of restrictive laws, and raised concerns of alleged repression escalating ahead of the local council elections in 2027.
