In view of the crop failures caused by drought and heat, the German Agricultural Society (DLG) calls for more entrepreneurial freedom. DLG President Paetow said in Deutschlandfunk that agriculture must react to the changed conditions with innovations. Subsidies are not a sustainable answer. The German Farmers' Association (DBV) demands, however, state emergency aid for the affected farms.
