The war between Ukraine and Russia is moving to Africa. Several Ukrainian experts have gone to African countries to train local fighters fighting with Russian military groups in the use of drones. Russian soldiers are in Africa to support different Kremlin-friendly regimes.
Russia has been expanding its military influence in Africa in recent years, particularly in the volatile and mineral-rich Sahel. Following the withdrawal of French and other Western forces, Moscow began providing military support to local regimes, initially through Wagner, and after the death of Yevgeny Prigozhin through the Russian state-controlled Africa Corps.
