“How She Will Ever Be Able to Pay for This? No Idea”: Single Mother Receives Water Bill of 19,000 Euros

For two years, water seeped into the kitchen of a single mother from the Bruges, Knokke-Heist, and Damme region. The woman noticed nothing. Until Farys sent her a bill for no less than 19,000 euros. Her lawyer pleaded with the justice of the peace for humanity: “She never stopped to consider that there could be a problem with the water.” The judge had to rule strictly, although his verdict did contain one exceptional measure.
