Western sanctions on Russian oil are tightening, but the so-called shadow fleet that transports this oil continues to grow, surpassing 1,100 tankers and raising concerns. Ships with fake registrations are appearing in new waters and trying their luck in the Arctic Ocean.
Despite the embargo put in place at the end of 2022, the Twenty-Seven still import refined petroleum products from Russian crude oil, thus circumventing the sanctions.
