In the first three months of this year, the Housing Price Index (IPHab) had recorded the first deceleration in almost two years, since the second quarter of 2024.
In the second quarter of this year, 40,142 housing units were traded for a total of EUR 10.7 billion.
INE index for house prices, at national level, points to a 16.5% homologous increase, a slowdown compared to 17.8% in the previous quarter (also in homologous terms).
Prices rose 16.5% in the second quarter, while the number of businesses fell 6.4%. Private debt recorded the highest annual growth since 2008. Content Buying home is more expensive and household debt shoots appears first in Folha Nacional.
Housing prices slow down in Portugal
House prices rose 16.5% in the second quarter compared to the previous year, down 1.3 percentage points from the previous quarter and marking the second straight quarter of slowing, according to the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
Despite the rise, house prices have slowed for two quarters. Sales fell 6.4%, but the value of transactions increased and reached 10.7 billion euros in the second quarter.
