House Democrat introducing legislation to abolish ICE

- On Wednesday, Rep. Shri Thanedar, Representative , announced on Capitol Hill a bill this week to abolish ICE, calling the agency `beyond reform` and citing `murders`.
- Last week, a protester was shot and killed in Minneapolis when ICE agent Jonathan Ross fired three shots at Renee Good, and DHS said Ross acted according to his training.
- Sen. Chris Murphy proposed a multipronged reform package keeping Border Patrol on the border, banning masks, requiring identification and warrants, and said these pragmatic steps could reach the President by the Jan. 30 funding deadline.
- Murphy urged using appropriations to force compliance, while Politico reported many Democrats are ready to fund DHS with conditions despite Rep. Maxwell Frost opposing any Homeland Security spending.
