[Ishigaki] The annual New Year's event, the 2026 New Year's Kite Flying Competition (sponsored by Ishigaki City Board of Education), was held on the 11th at Minamihama-cho Artificial Beach in the city. Approximately 300 people participated, including families who brought their own homemade kites. The kites flew into the sky carrying their hopes for the new year. 55 people took part in the competition, where the quality of the kites was judged.
