Hope flows: Restoring the Wolastoq, one tributary at a time

Flowing nearly 700 kilometres through New Brunswick’s forests, farms and cities before reaching the Bay of Fundy, the Wolastoq (Saint John River), which means “beautiful and bountiful river” in the Wolastoqiyik language, has long sustained life, culture and economy. But decades of industrial pollution, habitat loss, invasive species and climate change have left this critical waterway under strain.
